Paramount+ has officially ordered a new 2D Garfield animated series, with Lamorne Morris set to voice the famous orange cat.

The important thing here is that this is not development gossip. Paramount+ formally announced the show, which means the usual “is this real?” step is already over. 

Lamorne Morris is also a fun choice because he brings enough comedy energy to make the casting instantly understandable. Garfield needs sarcasm, timing, and a little smug charm. Morris checks those boxes fast. This last part is analysis, but the casting itself is confirmed. 

The other nice little signal is the format. Paramount specifically calling this a 2D-animated series gives it a more classic Garfield feel, which should play well with people who still want that comic-strip texture instead of a slicker fully CG look. The format confirmation is official, the audience reaction angle is analysis. 

The biggest missing piece is the one fans always want next. There is no premiere date yet, and broader cast details also appear to still be under wraps. So this is a real series order, but not a countdown-clock rollout yet.
