FKA twigs has filed a new lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf, and the newest fight is about whether the NDA from their prior settlement can legally silence her. People reported that she filed in Los Angeles Superior Court seeking to block enforcement of provisions she says violate California law.

TL;DR

People and EW reported that FKA twigs is challenging NDA terms tied to her 2025 settlement with LaBeouf, arguing they violate California’s STAND Act. The lawsuit is active, but there has been no court ruling yet on whether the NDA will be voided.

What Happened

People reported that twigs, whose legal name is Tahliah Barnett, filed a new complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court on March 25. The filing seeks a court order blocking LaBeouf from enforcing parts of the settlement agreement that she says unlawfully restrict her from speaking about her experience.

EW added that the new suit also challenges a secret arbitration complaint LaBeouf allegedly filed after comments twigs made in a 2025 Hollywood Reporter interview. The complaint argues that using the NDA this way violates California’s Stand Together Against Non-Disclosure Act, or STAND Act.

Key Details

People said twigs filed the new complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court.  People said the lawsuit seeks to invalidate NDA terms under California’s STAND Act.  People reported that the filing grew out of LaBeouf’s claim that twigs breached the settlement through a 2025 interview.  EW said the suit describes LaBeouf’s attempt to enforce the NDA as an effort to “silence” her.  Pitchfork reported that twigs’ new suit says LaBeouf is trying to stop her from disclosing information about her survival of sexual assault.  EW said a representative for LaBeouf had no comment.

Why It Matters

This matters because the case is no longer just about the original abuse allegations and settlement. It is now also about whether a confidentiality agreement can legally be used to limit a survivor’s speech after the case is over. That turns the story into a broader Hollywood and California-law fight, not just a celebrity dispute.

It also matters because NDAs and survivor-speech restrictions remain a major industry issue. If twigs wins this challenge, the case could become a much more visible reference point in how California’s STAND Act is interpreted in future entertainment disputes.

What to Watch Next

Whether LaBeouf formally responds in court Whether the case narrows to STAND Act interpretation Whether the prior settlement terms become more public Whether the suit influences other Hollywood NDA disputes

How Credible Is This?

Highly credible as a legal filing. People, EW, and Pitchfork all treated the complaint as active court action. The unresolved part is the outcome, because none of the checked reporting shows a court ruling yet on whether the NDA is actually void.

Production Reality Check

This story is not about a new movie or TV consequence yet. It is about legal pressure, public reputation, and whether prior settlement terms can still control the narrative. The business fallout may grow later, but the real current development is the new lawsuit itself.

Does It Make Sense?

Yes. If twigs believes the NDA conflicts with California law and is being used to punish her for speaking, this kind of lawsuit makes sense as the next move. What does not make sense is acting as though the NDA has already been struck down, because the courts have not ruled on that yet.

Do you think this turns into a bigger Hollywood NDA fight, or stays mostly tied to the twigs and LaBeouf case?
